You’ll all know by now that I absolutely love a good bargain so when I learnt that Wish App was a thing, I jumped straight on it. Wish App is basically a place where you can buy pretty much anything you can think of for ridiculously cheap prices. Granted, you probably get what you pay for with some things and the quality isn’t extremely reliant. However, I’ve previously bought things like fairy lights, home accessories and phone cases from Wish and some of the items have been genuinely lovely.
Something I was yet to try was their make-up; there’s an absolute ton of make-up products on Wish, most of them being priced at a couple of quid or even for free (you only have to pay shipping costs). Curiosity got the better of me and I ordered a few make-up bits to review. My thoughts were that I’ll either be pleasantly surprised or end up with some sort of chemical burn, it’s all for the content.
One of the things I was most eager to try from Wish App was a foundation as I feel like you can go very wrong or very right with this. I really love the packaging of the foundation, it’s a modern and simplistic design which I feel looked a lot more expensive that it is. In the first five minutes of applying this foundation, I actually fell in love with it. Everything seemed to be going so well, the shade matched me perfectly and the coverage was incredible. Unfortunately, that moment ended; the foundation oxidised like crazy after just a few minutes so I ended up with the most obvious foundation line ever. This was honestly such a disappointment because I actually feel like the coverage and lasting power was pretty amazing, especially for two quid.
False Eyelashes – Free (Just Pay Shipping)
What’s a make-up look without a good lash, eh? Again, I really wasn’t expecting much with these lashes as I’ve tried super cheap lashes from eBay before. They always feel like really cheap plastic and are super irritating on my eyes. I was actually pleasantly surprised by the quality of these, they felt fairly soft and fluffy and I don’t actually think they look that bad. I probably won’t wear this particular style again as they’re a bit too thick and bold for me. I prefer a more natural looking lash but they do have other styles available that I’m tempted to try out. If you wear lashes quite often, these are a pretty good affordable option. I was sent five sets of lashes overall which is such a bargain considering all I paid was a couple of quid for shipping.
Double Ended Matte Waterproof Lipliner and Lipstick Pencils – Free (Just Pay Shipping)
This is probably my favourite product of the bunch, I’m so impressed with it and it’s the one product I can see myself reusing. This is a double ended lipstick, one end being a pencil lip liner and the other end being a matte lipstick. I’m not usually a lip liner girl as I often find that lip liners can be quite difficult to apply and I’m rubbish at matching them to my lipstick. This lip liner actually glided on super easily and matches the lipstick colour perfectly. As for the actual lipstick, I really love the formula of it as although it’s matte, it’s not super drying and it seems to have really great lasting power as well. The colour is so me and I think it will be a perfect shade for the Summer. I’m definitely considering getting this product in more colours, I’d pay a lot more for this kind of quality!
Glitter Liquid Eyeliner in ‘4’ – Free (Just Pay Shipping)
I originally ordered this liquid eyeliner in the silver shade as I thought it would go nicely with the other products I selected. Unfortunately, I was sent the wrong colour but I decided to just go with it anyway. Upon application, it was pretty awkward to work with as it seemed to be quite clumpy and thick. After a bit of patience and trying to stir the product around with its applicator, I was able to do a thicker line as it was quite tricky to do a neat, thin line. I did quite like the final result but after around 15 minutes of wear, I noticed a few glitter specks on my face so I don’t think it’s particularly long lasting. I’ll be sticking to my Collection glitter liners.
Mineral Ball Shimmer Eyeshadow Pen – Free (Just Pay Shipping)
This was the most disappointing purchase of the lot and I was pretty gutted as I really liked the concept of it. This is a mini roller ball powdered eyeshadow that I thought looked perfect for travelling if you don’t want to carry an entire palette around. Unfortunately, it has little to no pigment; I tried to apply tons of layers but nothing much seemed to show and I even tried using a wet brush to apply it but barely anything showed up. This is such a shame as the idea is really great, just not the execution of it.
Overall, I’m actually slightly more impressed with Wish App make-up than I thought I would be. I’ll definitely be getting a lot of use out of the lip product and I might try a foundation lightener with the foundation as I really love its coverage and longevity.
