Autumn is my favourite season for so many reasons; the fresh cold air, big woolly jumpers and pumpkin spiced everything. What’s not to love? In my opinion, one of the best things about Autumn is all the darker colours that start to come out through fashion and make-up – burgundy being a firm go-to of mine the second it hits October. With that being said, the cold also makes me want to stay in bed all snug for as long as I possibly can. For this reason, I like to keep my make-up as quick and simple as possible whilst still throwing in some Autumnal tones.
A beauty brand called benecos recently very kindly sent me a few of their products to try out. I’m going to be showing you how I’ve incorporated them into two make-up looks that I’ve been using consistently throughout Autumn so far. benecos have a wide range of vegan and cruelty free beauty products such as make-up, nail polish and skincare that are made with organic ingredients and are free of paraffin, parabens, silicones and synthetic ingredients. Their products are all very reasonably priced, many of their products around the same price as your average affordable drugstore brand. If you’re looking for more cruelty free options or you’re trying to steer away from animal tested products without breaking the bank doing so, benecos is honestly the perfect answer.
I use this make-up look almost every day as it’s so quick and easy yet I always get compliments on it. It’s perfect to do before work as it only takes me a few minutes in the morning and it lasts all day long. The first thing I do is prime my face, I like to use an illuminating primer to give my face a little bit of an awakening boost. Then I apply a small amount of BB cream all over my face and set it with a translucent powder. I put a little bit of bronzer on to warm my face up a little bit and some highlighter on my cheekbones and brow bones (gotta get that glow). I also fill in my brows with eyebrow powder just to make them a little fuller and more defined.
For eyeshadow I’ve been using the benecos Quattro Eyeshadow, ‘Coffee and Cream’ and I’ve become a little bit obsessed with it. It’s the absolute perfect thing to travel with and be able to create a whole eye look without needing to dip into other palettes. For the look pictured, I use the bottom left light beige shade all over my lid and then blend the top right chocolate brown shade into my outer corner in a ‘V’ shape. I also use a little bit of the light shimmery colour in the top left on my inner corner to help brighten my eyes. If I’m feeling extra fancy, I’ll also use a little bit of liquid eyeshadow all over my lids for a bit of extra shimmer and then apply mascara. These eyeshadows are super easy to blend which is why I love using it in my morning routine as creating this eye look only takes a couple of minutes. They’re also super easy to build up depending on whether you prefer a bold pop of colour or a just a subtle wash.
For lipstick, I use the benecos Matte Lipstick in the shade ‘Mat Muse’ which has quickly become one of my favourite lipsticks. All benecos lipsticks contain natural and organic oils so although this is a matte lipstick, it still keeps my lips super hydrated as though I’m using a lip balm. Matte lipsticks nearly always leave my lips feeling dry and undernourished so this makes a really welcome change which my lips are thanking me for in the cold weather.
The last thing I do is set my face with setting spray and I’m good to go! With a little bit of practice, this make-up look only takes a few minutes out of my time in the morning – I would definitely recommend giving it a go if you want some extra time in bed.
For days where I fancy a bit of a change or want to add a more of a vibrant pop of colour to my look, this is the look I’ve been doing. Although it takes a few minutes more to achieve this look, it’s still pretty minimal effort which is what we like. This would be perfect if you’re going on a night out but you’re rushed for time or you’ve spent too long dancing to The Spice Girls and didn’t realise you’re running late (it happens to the best of us).
In terms of my face, I do pretty much exactly what I did with the last look; primer, BB cream, setting powder, bronzer, highlighter and fill in my brows. For eyeshadow, I use the ‘Coffee and Cream’ palette again just like last time but I incorporate the bottom right dark brown shade into it as well. I like to use a small amount and blend it into my outer corner as well as taking a little bit under my eye to smoke it out. I also sometimes like to do winged eyeliner with this look but that’s totally optional – sometimes this ends up taking me about half an hour and a whole packet of make-up wipes so it depends on whether or not I’m feeling lucky. Then I just apply mascara as usual and my eyes are done.
For lipstick, I use a different benecos one in the shade ‘Mat Very Berry’ which is the most gorgeous colour for Autumn. It’s a vibrant berry shade and I’ve had so many people ask me what lipstick I’m wearing when I have this on. Again, this formula acts a lot like a lip balm in that my lips always feel really soft and nourished whenever I wear this.
