Look Incredible Beauty Box Review: June 2018

July 10, 2018

It’s now been over a year since I first started reviewing Look Incredible beauty boxes which is just a little bit crazy to me. I still feel like a new born in the blogging world, it doesn’t feel like that long since I was sat twiddling my thumbs trying to think of a blog name. However, I think I’ve officially decided to throw in the towel with Look Incredible – I was saying in my last review that I just wasn’t loving them as much as I used to and now I think I’m ready to try out some other similar boxes. It will be interesting to compare them and hopefully I’ll eventually find the ultimate subscription box. I’m looking forward to receiving a monthly box again as Look Incredible switched to bi-monthly which feels like such a long wait. Please let me know if you have any favourite subscription services!

The Balm How ‘Bout Them Apples? – £21.99

First of all, this is probably the cutest packaging I’ve ever seen. I love anything vintage themed and this whole product just screams vintage. The palette consists of 6 cream products suitable to use as blushes or lipsticks, varying between different shades of pink and red. I love how travel friendly this is as it combines both a lip and cheek product, it comes in a protective sleeve and using creams rather than powders means there’s way less risk of breakage. I don’t usually use blush at all as I have naturally rosy red cheeks so I was a little intimidated by the bright colours at first. However, a little bit goes a really long way and they blend out really nicely to give a little flush of colour. I would definitely use this more for a vibrant red lip as I really love red lipstick and these give such an amazing pop of colour. I’m going to Japan in October and I feel like this would be a great palette to take with me on my travels because of its multiple uses.

Nails Inc London Nail Polish – £11.50

I have to admit that I don’t usually buy Nails Inc polishes because even though I love them, there are cheaper alternatives that I go for to save a bit of money (Rimmel London and H&M do amazing nail polishes). This was a nice treat to receive and the colour is perfect for me as I tend to go for neutral colours on my nails. I only needed to apply a couple of coats and it lasted for well over a week without using any top coat which is pretty impressive. Although the price is quite high for a nail varnish in my opinion, the bottle is bigger than the usual polishes I buy so it’s definitely worth the money if it’s a nail colour you’ll use a lot.

The Body Shop Honey Bronze Lip Nectar – £5.99

I always love receiving The Body Shop products because I like to treat myself to the odd thing from there every now and again – usually one of their gorgeous smelling hand creams. I wouldn’t usually go for a lipgloss as I’m more of a matte girl but I have started to warm to having a glossy lip in the Summer. The Body Shop recommends that you can either wear it over a lip colour or just on its own. I’ve been exfoliating my lips with a lip scrub and then applying this over the top as it has a nude tint to it which works really well as a stand alone product without the need for lipstick underneath. I’ve found that this little lip care routine has left my lips in really great condition as they can get really dry in the Summer. I can tell I’m going to get a lot of use out of this product. The only downside is that it’s very sticky so I only wear it if I’ve got my hair up as otherwise it ends up sticking all over my face.

Estee Lauder Pure Colour Envy Liquid Lip Potion – £21.00

I would definitely never pay this much for a lip product but I was excited as the previous Estee Lauder products I’ve received in Look Incredible boxes have been really lovely. However, I was sure that I recognised this product; sure enough, I rifled through my lipstick collection and I already had this exact shade from a previous box. Initially, I wasn’t too happy about the repeat of the same product. However, they do recommend throwing out your lipsticks within 3-6 months and I did receive the first one just under a year ago so I suppose it acts as a healthier replacement. The shade is absolutely gorgeous, a cool-toned vibrant red that I will definitely get a lot of use out of in Autumn.

Fusion Beauty Illumifill Line Filling Luminiser with Amplifat – £10.99

This is the only product that really fell flat for me this month which I think is pretty good going as I usually only really get use out of one or two products. Fusion Beauty instruct that you should roll the product across areas where you want to conceal wrinkles and shadows such as laughter lines and the under-eye area. It’s supposed to fill in any lines as well as highlight dull areas but I can honestly say that I feel like it literally did nothing for me. Admittedly, I’m only 23 but I still have a few wrinkles starting to appear and I’ve always been self conscious about how prominent my laughter lines are. I was really hoping this product would at least minimise the problem but unfortunately I saw absolutely no difference.

What subscription box should I try out next?

  1. I absolutely adore the look of that cute palette!! I am totally with you about it being really intimidating as a cheek product though, I think I’d only use it for the lips. I still really need to try some products from The Balm! Also that’s so odd that lipgloss is in this box as I’m so sure I saw it in the sale when I was working in The Body Shop which was over a year ago – are Look Incredible being a bit sneaky here!? I’m baffled they’ve included Estée Lauder in such a reasonably priced box, even it was a repeat. I’ve never had anything from their brand as I’m a bit of a cheapskate now but I’d love to try a thing or two at some point! I definitely say go for a creative box, I’d love to see some crafty DIY posts from you alongside beauty 😄

    • Yeah I’ve never tried anything from them before but I’m pretty impressed so far, I definitely need to check out what other products they have! Oh my gosh, seriously?! That’s made me feel a bit worried now that I’ve got an out of date product which isn’t the first time I’ve been sceptical about that with Look Incredible. Yeah I’m the same, I’ve only ever tried their Double Wear foundation and although it is amazing coverage, I’d much prefer similar drugstore ones instead of paying £40 to be honest. I think that’s what I’m siding with! Thanks Al x

This box looks amazing. How much does it cost? I’ve always wanted to try a beauty box but never really got round to it. But getting The Balm, Estée Lauder etc in a box is amazing. I’m excited to see what other boxes you’re going to review in the future. It might persuade me to sign up to one.

    • The standard box is £25 or they do a deluxe version which I believe is £35, they’re on the pricier side but you definitely get your money’s worth with the brands included. They’re such a nice little treat for each month, I’d definitely recommend trying one out! x

  4. Such a shame it didn’t work out for you!
I recently said goodbye to a box i’d been getting for over year. Felt a wee bit sad, but it just wasn’t working for me any more.

  5. That cheek and lip palette looks so adorable! I’m not much of a blush kinda gal but would deffo consider giving this one a try! I also like the sound of the lip nectar – my lips are a nightmare in the summer and it sounds like this would give them the moisture they need! Great post as always lovely! ❤️❤️

  6. The apples palette really is the cutest packaging I have EVER seen! I love Nails Inc polishes too 🙂 xxx

The Balm always have the cutest packaging! I don’t think I’ve ever heard of this box before but it looks like you get a lot of good products. I totally get what you mean about bi-monthly feeling like a long wait though! Only disliking one product is pretty good for a subscription box! x

That palette is stunning! Such a great selection of items x

  9. I’ve never really been a massive fan of subscription boxes, as I prefer to choose everything I buy and I found that a lot of the products have gone to waste as I never reach for them! All products from theBalm look amazing and the packaging is always the best. I love NailsInc nail polish too – it does last incredibly well xo
