I think I say this every month and I sound like such an old woman every time, but I really can’t believe April is over already. It feels like it was about a week long at the most. I’ve really been slacking with my blog lately, I need to give myself a kick up the backside and get back to regularly posting content. I usually tell myself I’m allowed to sit and be a sloth on a Monday night because, well, it’s Monday so I’m allowed. This time, I decided to take some blog photos, write two posts and schedule lots of tweets. Hopefully this is the start of at least a slightly more productive me. In any event, here’s what I’ve been loving throughout April.
I never usually even think to wander into H&M. I’ll be honest, it’s a little bit further away from work than everywhere else so I don’t usually bother to venture that far. However, a brand new huge H&M has recently opened in Birmingham and it’s a little closer so I decided to have a little wander around. I only picked up a couple of bits, one of them being this nude nail polish. The only three nail colours I ever wear are black, nude and maybe red if I’m feeling adventurous but for those of you that love experimenting with different colours, they had a massive range available. I wasn’t expecting much quality-wise from a store that specialises primarily in clothing but I was so pleasantly surprised, especially considering it only cost me £3.99. It only needed a couple of coats and it dries so quickly, it’s perfect for quickly painting your nails before you go out without having to worry about it smudging. It does chip after a few days but that was without me even applying a top coat so I’m pretty impressed. I definitely want to pick up some more H&M polishes, maybe I’ll even stretch to a more vibrant shade if I’m feeling crazy.
I’m going to be pretty controversial and say that I’m not much of a Summer girl, in fact I don’t really enjoy the heat at all. Give me a cold Winter with huge fluffy jumpers anyday. One thing I just cannot do when it’s hot is wear foundation and as the sun made a couple of appearances this month, I decided I needed an alternative. I did my research on the best suggestions for BB creams/tinted moisturisers and ended up choosing this Garnier cream. I love how easy this has made my life, it’s so quick to apply of a morning and saves me so much getting ready time (which means extra sleep, always a big plus). Although it doesn’t really give much coverage, it gives my skin such a nice glow and looks as though I’ve got a natural looking tan without being orange. I love that this one is specifically for oily skin as I’ve never been able to use BB creams in the past, they just end up making me look like a greaseball. This gives much more of a healthy gleam. It’s such a perfect base for a natural make-up look and I just know I will be swearing by this throughout the Summer.
I’ve seen this bag on Instagram, in YouTube videos and had been eyeing it up on multiple visits to Primark. I was really sceptical about buying myself one at first because I was worried about looking childish but then, as Shia LaBeouf once said, I told myself to “just do it.” It’s basically the perfect bag for me. I love backpacks, I love Disney and I think this is just the right amount of Disney without going overboard. I’m actually past caring if I look ten years old carrying this around because I’ve never felt more cool. This is going to make the perfect backpack when I visit DisneySea during my Japan trip at the end of October and I’m mega excited.
This is a phone game that my boyfriend started playing a while ago and recommended that I get it too. Now that I’ve started, I don’t seem to be able to stop. You’re basically on an island and are leading a bunch of survivors to uncover various parts of the island. You have to forage for supplies, build appropriate tools and structures to help their survival and fight off any creatures along the way. I have no idea why this game is so addictive but trust me, you’ll be utterly hooked if you start.
I’ve been watching this show with my boyfriend on and off, we’ve still got loads of episodes left so I’m really far behind but I’ve been absolutely loving what we’ve watched so far. Drew Barrymore plays Sheila who’s married to Joel and they have a daughter, Abby. All appears normal for a few short minutes until we find out that Sheila has transformed into a zombie. The show follows the family as Sheila attempts to live normally amongst humans that she really wants to eat. This show is absolutely hilarious, it has me in stitches every time and the acting is amazing. If you love a good black comedy, definitely give this a go.
I’ve been to see Wicked twice this month as it’s been showing at the Birmingham Hippodrome, it would’ve been rude not to. It’s definitely in my top five favourite musicals and gives me tears, laughter and goosebumps every single time – especially when Elphaba defies gravity. In particular, I have to mention that Nikki Bentley was an understudy playing Elphaba the first time I went to see it and she was my favourite Elphaba by far. Her vocals were absolutely incredible, I didn’t think it was possible to love any Elphaba more than Idina Menzel. If you love Wicked too, let me know which song is your favourite – mine is ‘No Good Deed’!
