Look Incredible Beauty Box Review: February 2018

March 14, 2018

You may be wondering where on Earth my Look Incredible posts had disappeared to. Admittedly, I missed December’s post because life seemed to take over. However, Look Incredible have since starting doing their regular boxes as a bimonthly subscription rather than monthly, meaning I’ll only get one box every two months. I will really miss getting my monthly box, but I suppose this does help me to save money and makes it all the more exciting when I do receive my box. If you’re wondering what I’m even banging on about, Look Incredible is a beauty box subscription service – I’m subscribed to the regular box which contains five products, all of them being high-end brands as well as full-sized. I’ve found that this subscription box is the perfect one for me as I get to try out higher end products whilst only paying £25 per box, a tiny fraction of what I’d be spending if I bought all the products separately. I received my latest Look Incredible Box in February so I’m here to show you all of the exciting products I received.

Velvet 59 My Fair Lashes Mascara – £9.99

As soon as I saw this mascara, the packaging immediately reminded me of Benefit. I’ve definitely seen similar packaging from them – Benefit do pretty amazing mascaras so I was hoping this one would live up to the same sort of quality. Unfortunately, this mascara fell completely flat for me. I tried so many coats of this but it just felt as though nothing was happening – it gave absolutely no volume, length or thickness whatsoever. I don’t usually throw products away; I like to give them away to family or friends that I think might enjoy them but this is probably just going to end up in the bin – harsh, but true.

Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner in Iridescent Red 10 – £17

This product got me a little bit excited as I’m a pretty big fan of coloured eyeliner. I went through a phase in Summer of putting all sorts of bright colours on my eyelids. This is a really cool shade, it has a really subtle hint of glitter which I think looks super pretty. The formula is pretty impressive, it glides on really easily which makes application so simple. The staying power is also really amazing, I actually struggled a little bit to get the swatch off my hand so this will definitely stay put throughout the day. The only thing that puts me off buying this product in more colours is the price; NYX do much more affordable coloured eyeliners and we all know I love a good bargain.

Tarte Glowlight Luminising Wand – £20

This is the star product of the box for me, I’ve completely fallen in love with it. This came at just the right time because I’ve always used powder highlighters but I was wanting to try out some liquid ones for a change. I absolutely love pink highlighters, I think they’re so flattering so the colour of this highlighter is perfect. The glow this product gives is spot on for me, I don’t like anything too blinding but I do like a bit of a glow which is exactly what this product gives. I’ve just been using this across my cheekbones but it would also work really well to mix a little amount in with your foundation for a dewy look. I’ve been reaching for this highlighter daily, top points to Look Incredible for including this in my box as it’s easily become a staple product for me.

Living Proof Style Extender Spray – £13

I was pretty excited at the inclusion of a Living Proof product as I’ve heard a lot of good things about this brand. I really wanted to like this product but I just don’t feel like it really does anything at all for me. You’re meant to apply it to damp hair and then style your hair as usual; it’s supposed to help your hair to hold styles better and for longer, basically a primer for your hair but I didn’t really see any difference after using it. I’m trying to give it the benefit of the doubt because my hair is super thick and long so maybe it’s just not suited to my hair type. I do have to say that even the strongest hairsprays don’t seem to hold a style in my mass of hair so I suppose this product didn’t really have a chance. I’ll definitely be passing this along to a family member or a friend to see what they think, though.

Ciaté Corrupted Neons Electronica Set – £9.99

This is such a handy little nail varnish set to have; there’s a colour, a glitter to create an accent nail and a top coat to make it all nice and shiny. I honestly love the idea of it but I’ve just always hated neon pink and neon colours in general. I totally get the idea as it’s a bright shade that fits the upcoming Spring season really well. I just can’t get over my hatred for neon, unfortunately. I will happily give these nail varnishes a loving home though as Ciaté polishes are really long-lasting, easy to apply and well worth owning.

Overall, this box was very hit and miss for me but I’m not too sore because I’ve gained a staple make-up product that I’ll end up using until its bitter end. I love that Look Incredible gives me the chance to try higher end products out to see which ones are actually worth the money, meaning I can share my opinions with you lovely lot as well. I won’t lie, I’m a little bit bitter that I won’t be getting a box every month but I’m super intrigued to know what products I’ll be talking about in April.

Would you invest in a Look Incredible subscription?

I LOVE the neon Ciate nail polish – but I never use highlighter! The world would be boring if we were all the same☺️ Finding a staple is always the best, sounds like these boxes include some great stuff, I may have to give them a try! Really enjoyed reading this xxxx

Some great contents in the box, shame you didn’t like the polish colour but great you’ve found a good Illuminator! Great post x

I love the shade of that coloured eyeliner! It looks stunning. I would definitely like to try it out myself, but you’re right, the price is a bit steep for an eyeliner.

  6. One thing I can’t wait for when I can work again is a beauty box! I MISS IT SO MUCH! It’s a shame they’ve cut the deliveries but I suppose that’s more money for Japan. The tarte product sounds pretty bomb and I’m always up for trying out a new highlighter! I am yet to try anything Tarte though… Loving the sound of that Makeup Forever liner too but it’s a shame that it’s so expensive! I imagine it wouldn’t last all that long so I’m not sure it’d be worth it with the NYX ones being so similar and so much cheaper. I am yet to try anything ciate but I am also a huge hater of neon, I’m not entirely sure why it exists haha! So good to see a post from you, I’ve missed your writing!

    • Yeah true, can always do with the extra cash to save away! I’m not usually over impressed by the look of Tarte products, especially after their shoddy shade range of their new foundation but I couldn’t help loving this. Yeah exactly, I feel like this was a nice treat but I’d definitely stick to NYX. I’m so glad it’s not just me! Thank you, that means such a lot to me. I need to get my butt into gear with blogging haha xx

  7. I need to get myself into the beauty box hype! Also with you on anything neon, it’s just not my cup of tea (unless it’s for a themed party – then I’m all in 🤗😉) great post lovely! ❤️

  8. There’s soo many products in this box! Definitely seems worth it for the £25 price tag. I love how you received three different nail polishes, helps you to create the perfect look with them. I’m with you on neon colours, they can sometimes be a bit too vibrant.

  9. Ooh Tarte isn’t easy to get a hold of here in the UK, so the inclusion of one of their products is fab! Such a shame about the Living Proof product, as I’ve only ever heard great things surrounding the brand. Fab review Alice xo

These kind of subscription boxes are always going to be a bit hit and miss but i find majority of the time, for me personally i end up getting items that i’d never normally use which is a shame! It’s super nice when you receive something that becomes a new staple though!

    • Oh definitely! I’ve for sure had my fair share of products that I’ll never use but I do try to pass them onto people who I think would benefit more from them. Even if I only love one or two products though, it ends up being worth my money! x

  11. Wow, such fab products! Love the sound of the tarte one, definitely need to check it out!x

The Tarte Glowlight sounds incredible! I’ve only tried a handful of products from them but I’ve loved every single one which is why I really want to try more from them. Although there were some products you didn’t get on with, I think that this box looks great!
I just cancelled my Bettebox beauty subscription box (it’s only available here in Finland) because although there was always a product I liked and buying the product(s) alone would have cost me more than getting the box every month I don’t see the point of having so many extra products in my drawers. Also, the products were usually skincare/haircare, maybe one makeup product each month, if that, and I originally got the box because I wanted to try makeup products I wouldn’t necessarily buy myself. I need to look into UK’s beauty boxes, maybe some of them can be delivered to Finland 🙂 x

    • It really is, I absolutely love it! Yeah that’s the only annoying thing, you do slowly accumulate a collection of products you’re just not going to use. Ooh hopefully that’s a possibility! x
